Located on the east side of Nora Springs, this small deck girder bridge crosses a small unnamed creek near Rock Grove Road.
Built in approximately 1910, the bridge features a single deck plate girder span, set onto concrete substructures. Judging by the exposed pilings underneath the abutments, the substructures on this bridge may date to the late 1930s or 1940s.
Therefor, it is unknown if this span is original to this location. The Milwaukee Road oftentimes moved steel spans to save costs when older spans were available for reuse. It is believed that the girder may date to ca. 1910, while the abutments may date to ca. 1940.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair to good condition. While the superstructure is in excellent condition, many pilings are exposed on the bottoms of the abutment.
The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
